Dr. Frances D. Young

Dr. Frances D. Young (nee Fries) went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 19th, 2017. She was born July 21, 1942 to the late Robert and Thelma Fries (nee Clark). She graduated from Moorestown High School in 1960. She graduated from Trenton State College and later earned her MBA and doctorate in counseling. She began her work career at RCA in Moorestown where she met her husband Kenneth E. Young, Jr. Fran and Ken lived and raised their daughters in Pennsauken. Fran spent many years as a substitute teacher in the Pennsauken School System. She was the director of the Salvation Army Day Care in Philadelphia. She also spent many years helping people through her in-home counseling practice.

She loved her Lord and was a long-term member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she married her husband of 54 years on June 8, 1963. She relocated to Mount Laurel in 2004 and was a member of Fellowship Community Church. Fran loved to sing and was always a devoted choir member. She adored her gardens and spent hours tending to her beloved rose bushes.

In addition to her husband, Fran is survived by her three daughters, Karen (Tom), Kelly and Kendra (Alex), her grandchildren, Ryan (Noemi), Erik (Tita), Nicole (Efrain), Erin, Noah and two great grandchildren, Serenity and Logan. She is predeceased by her brother Stanley and is survived by her sisters, Dorothy Barone, Thelma “Marti” Strong, Melodie (Ernie) Dawson and Jeanie Lowe along with numerous nieces, nephews and their children.

A celebration of her life will be held 11 am, Friday, Nov. 24th at Immanuel Baptist Church, Main St. & Poplar Ave., Maple Shade. A visitation with the family will be held from 10 am until time of service. Arrangements by the Gaskill-Brown Funeral Home, Merchantville.
