Bernard J. Ward Jr.

Bernard J. Ward, “Bebe”, age 76, longtime Pennsauken resident passed away surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, December 25, 2018. 

He is survived by his late parents Bernard and Elizabeth Ward; sisters, Peggy Bitler, Bernadette Romano; late brother, James Ward; his 5 little Angels, MaryAnn, Betty, Peggy, Bobby and Darlene, and 3 generations of nieces and nephews. 

He was a US Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War, served many years in the National Guard and worked for Pennsauken Township for 30 years.  

He enjoyed playing the harmonica, guitar, singing, watching the Phillies, Casinos, sitting on his front porch, going to church, hanging with his Best Buddy/nephew, Mike and never missed a day of buying lottery tickets. The day he went in the hospital he made sure his sister Peggy went to buy his tickets. One of his favorite songs that he carved in our minds and hearts forever is "Bye Bye Miss American Pie". 

Those who knew Bebe knew he was a kind hearted soul and his faith in god was unmeasurable. He was a great brother, uncle, and friend. The bond he created with his great-great nephew Joseph will sit in our hearts forever. He will be truly missed and never be forgotten.

A Visitation will be held Thursday from 8 to 9:30 am at the Gaskill-Brown Funeral Home, 33 W. Maple Ave., Merchantville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am at St. Peter RC Church, 43 W. Maple Ave., Merchantville. Interment will follow in the NJ Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown.
