Ann Louise (Lefever) Arber, long-time resident of Pennsauken NJ, passed away at age 75 on May 30, 2024. She has returned home to the Lord and is joyfully reunited with her beloved husband David Arber Sr.
Ann’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife and a constant presence in her children’s schools as a library volunteer, room mom, chaperone, and audience member of concerts and talent shows. Holidays were a source of excitement with special decorations and menus for each. Movie and game nights were frequent, and she would play her recorder and guitar for evening sing-alongs. She was as fully present as she could be for her children and always had breakfast sandwiches as well as after school snacks ready for a crowd, accompanied by an encouraging word and a hug.
Ever resourceful, she was a master of creating something from nothing and patiently shared her knowledge with anyone who wanted to learn. She was a master baker and loved to treat her family to freshly baked bread and soups, tiered and themed cakes, hand churned ice cream, and made gourmet meals with her children, as well as nutritious meal baskets to be delivered to those in recovery or bereavement, or just to say I’m thinking of you.
She loved nature and the outdoors, hated shoes and snow, and could set up camp and feed her family full meals daily anywhere, even icy cold cow pastures. She could paddle canoes, swim with snappers and catch some of the fish she’d cook for dinner. Ann was an expert with a sewing machine, knitting needles, and crochet hooks. Her flower and vegetable gardens were prolific and she freely shared the bounty. She took in strays, abandoned and pregnant animals, and fostered bottle-fed babies of many species until they were old enough to be homed or set free back in the wild.
Ann was a faithful servant to our Lord and tried her best to share the love of God with all; spending hours singing hymns and praying for anyone who needed to be lifted. She is survived by daughters Susann and husband Christopher, Allison, son David and wife Karen, and Seth, brothers Gerald and wife Paula, David and wife Sandra, Ken, and her sister Ruth and husband Charles. She was the loving grandmother to Joseph (deceased), Jamie, Tyler, Katelyn, Zachary, Kayla, Amberly, Christopher, and Jillian, and loving great grandmother to Daniel, Jace, Carson, Jayden, and Jaylynn.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Thursday, June 6th from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Gaskill-Brown Funeral Home, 33 West Maple Avenue, Merchantville. Funeral service will follow at 10 am. Interment in the NJ Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private.
