Daniel (Danny) Robert Wheeler left this world on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Danny was a well loved son, brother, uncle, friend and athlete. Danny is survived by his parents, Bill and Joan Wheeler, his siblings, Jenny, Stephanie, Chris, Liz, Melissa, Michelle, Tessa and Vlad and 13 nieces and nephews.
Danny lived life to the fullest and accomplished much in his 39 years. He had a BA in Liberal Arts from William Paterson University. Danny was outgoing and loved to talk to everyone. He was very well versed, able to talk about multiple subjects and willing to learn. Danny enjoyed spending time with his young nephews as much as he enjoyed discussing politics and sports. Danny was very involved in adaptive sports and volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity Restore. He was a core part of the Blue Journey Unified program. He recently learned to surfski and was quickly the fastest person on water. He played goalie and forward for the Wings of Steel sled hockey team. He most recently played defense for the Magee Sixers wheelchair basketball team, but he also played for the Bennett Blazers and Katie’s Komets when he was younger. He has taken part in wheelchair track and field since age 5 and most recently raced with the Navigators. Danny’s favorite part of wheelchair racing was the social aspect, the other racers and the fans he passed. Danny was an avid fan of all Philadelphia sports teams. Danny’s light shined brightly, but dimmed too soon. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
There will be a Celebration of Danny’s Life at a later date. Please check back for updated service information.
