Dorothy Mae Schimpf, longtime Pennsauken resident, went to be with the Lord at the age of 93 on Thursday, May 25, 2023. Dottie was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Merchantville. She also served on the board of the Camden Home for Children for many years. She gave of her gifts and time volunteering for Urban Promise. In her younger years she especially enjoyed being part of the theatrical events for the Merchantville Women’s Club. Dottie was a long time member of Merchantville Country Club for 65 years. As first mate to Captain John, Dottie shared a passion for boating with family and friends on the Delaware and Chesapeake waters.
Wife of the late John A. Schimpf; grandmother of the late Aimee Riley, she is survived by two loving children, Louis H. Schimpf (Linda) and John R. Schimpf (Elaine); six dear grandchildren, Jenna Thomasson (Bryan), Peter Schimpf (Anna), Lauren Napoli (Brad), Jonathan A. Schimpf (Kelly), Jonathan C. Schimpf (Mary Catherine), Kimberly Bailey (Thomas); and fifteen cherished great-grandchildren.
Dottie was affectionately known as Nana to more than her own family. Encouragement was the hallmark of her life and serving others was her daily practice. She modeled the Bible passage from Hebrews; “let us run with perseverance the course marked out before us…” Thank you Jesus for the gift of this loving woman.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Tuesday, May 30th from 10 to 11 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Merchantville, 10 West Maple Avenue, Merchantville, NJ 08109. Funeral service will follow at 11 am. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the church.
