Elizabeth O'Neill Obituary

Elizabeth J. O'Neill, of Mayfair, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on June 7, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on March 25, 1934, she lived a life marked by kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. She was the beloved wife of the late James O'Neill and a cherished presence to all who knew her.

Elizabeth was a woman whose life was centered on family, faith, and service to others. She was the proud mother of Elizabeth DiGiovanni and her husband Dij, Bernadette Beideman and her husband Warren, the late Claire O'Neill-Burke and her husband Steve, and Sharon Wright and her husband Jerald. She found great joy in her grandchildren, Lou, the late Michael, Samantha and her husband Austin, Clay, Lily, and Jerry and his wife Jillian, and she treasured her great-grandchildren, Michael, Gina, Maeve, Finn, and Fitz. Her family was the heart of her world, and she was known as a steady source of love, encouragement, and support throughout their lives.

She was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers, and she also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will remember her with deep affection. Her children admired her deeply, not only for the love she gave so freely, but also for the example she set through her patience, generosity, and strength. She was the kind of mother and grandmother who offered comfort, wisdom, and a listening ear, and her presence brought reassurance to those fortunate enough to be close to her. The family would like to recognize Elizabeth’s great friend and angel during her last year at Ciel Senior Living,Ilene Prince, who they will be forever grateful for.

Elizabeth spent many years as a dedicated camp counselor in Philadelphia, where she made a lasting impression through her dependable nature and her ability to connect with others. Her work reflected the same compassion and dedication that guided every part of her life. Elizabeth also served as a lunch mother for several years while later decided to return to school and become a certified day care teacher for St. Jerome’s Parish in Philadelphia. She would always remember her friends from Mayfair as her life continued on.

She was also an excellent seamstress, known for making uniforms and dresses for many family members and friends. Her skill with a needle and thread was matched by the care she put into every project, and her handiwork became a meaningful expression of her love for those around her.

Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a past member of the St. Peter Senior Ministry. Elizabeth believed in helping others, offering support where it was needed, and treating people with kindness and respect. Her life was a reflection of the principles she held dear, and she leaves behind a legacy of faith lived out through action.

Elizabeth also enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life rich and memorable. She loved trips to the beach, where she could enjoy the beauty and peace of the shore. She was also known for her cooking, which brought family and friends together around the table and created lasting memories. Whether she was preparing a meal, sewing a special garment, or spending time with loved ones, Elizabeth gave of herself generously and with a joyful heart.
