Ellen J. Salmon

Ellen Jane Salmon (nee Hare) 84, a genuine woman who feared the Lord, passed peacefully into eternity when the Lord called her home on 10/12/22. One of her favorite Bible verses, her adult life theme, was Prov. 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Married to her Moorestown High School sweetheart, Albert (predeceased), for 60 years, she was happiest when surrounded by her children Cindy Newcomb (Bob), Steve Salmon (Pat) and Anne Schuler (Bob), 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, multiple nieces, nephews, and her beloved friends and church fellow members. She is predeceased by her parents, Ellen and Frank Hare, one sister, Carol Wentz, and one special cousin, Bill Hare, Jr. who had recently lost his wife (with whom she spent many happy days exploring cheap eating establishments in the area).

Her love of travel took her from NJ to Florida, England, Alaska and Hawaii and many other places too numerous to mention. Her love of scrapbooking was a testament to her love of travel and was a source of great enjoyment amongst her family to see how many pictures can fit into one small house! One of her secret talents was the Mummer’s Strut, which she proudly performed for anyone who happened to be in the room while the parade was being televised on New Year’s Day. She enjoyed cooking and baking for various holidays and family dinners, but could never quite master the Christmas spritz cookie. She and her husband Al, whose nickname for Ellen was “Bez” (no one quite got a definitive answer on why!), found their greatest commonality in their shared hope and faith in Jesus Christ, and this was the foundation of everything they would do in life.

Funeral service will be held 11 am, Tuesday, October 18th at the Gaskill-Brown Funeral Home, 33 West Maple Avenue, Merchantville. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s research.
