Evelyn W. Barnhart

Evelyn W. Barnhart, a faith-filled, kind, and passionate woman, passed away on June 11, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on December 30, 1931, she lived a life marked by devotion to God, love for her family, and a lifelong commitment to sharing music with others. Born and raised in Camden, she raised her family with her late husband Lee M. Walker in Pennsauken before moving to Cherry Hill and residing there for many years.

Evelyn was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden. Later in life, she attended Philadelphia College of Bible, now Cairn University, where she earned two bachelor degrees, one in Music and one in Bible. Her education reflected the deep importance she placed on both worship and service, and it helped shape the many ways she blessed the lives of those around her.

Music was at the center of Evelyn’s life and ministry. She ministered organ and piano music to many churches, using her gifts to uplift congregations and support worship with grace and sincerity. Her love for worship music was a defining part of her life, and she shared that love generously with all who knew her. Evelyn also loved teaching piano lessons and received boundless joy in watching her students grow in their love of music. Through her teaching, she encouraged not only musical skill but also confidence, discipline, and appreciation for the beauty of music.

Evelyn was predeceased by her daughter, Nancy Lee; her husbands, Lee M. Walker and Palmer L. Barnhart; her father and mother, Joseph and Ruth McMullen; and her sister, Lillian Whaley. She is survived by her children, Evelyn Hulfish and her husband Carl, Eileen Lewis and her husband David, Todd Walker and his wife Donna, and Thomas Walker and his wife Cathy. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by several cousins, nieces, and friends who will cherish her memory and the many ways she touched their lives.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Thursday, June 18th from 10 am to 11 am at the Gaskill-Brown Funeral Home, 33 West Maple Avenue, Merchantville. Funeral service will follow at 11 am. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery, Pennsauken. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to Grace Presbyterian Church, 550 Union Mill Road, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054.
