Obituary
Jeffrey (Jeff) J. Babb, 74, a beloved partner, father and grandfather, passed away on November 11, 2022 at Virtua Voorhees surrounded by family. Jeff was born in Reading, PA on May 27, 1948, only son and youngest of four of the late Isabel (McDonnell) and Jere H. Babb. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School class of 1966. He graduated from St. Joseph’s University in 1970 with a BS in Accounting and went on to become a commercial loan officer at Bank of Pennsylvania in Reading, and later a Vice President in Commercial Lending for PSFS in Philadelphia. Jeff moved his family from Mt. Penn, PA to Cherry Hill, NJ in 1983, before settling in Merchantville in 1997, where he has resided ever since. He was an active member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church and held positions there as an usher and as a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his loving companion, Madeline McCausland, his son Michael (Xochitl Luna), daughter Sharon (Kevin Wanamaker), beloved sisters Virgina Keller and Jacqueline Bonanno, three step-children Kimberly Luca (Robert), Robert Sochor (Danielle), and Tracey Van Dillen (Paul), and grandchildren: Judith and Ryan Wanamaker, Gabriela and Margaret Babb, Kevin and Daniel Luca, Robert, Brendan and Ava Sochor, and Sarah and Emily Van Dillen, as well as many godchildren and beloved nieces and nephews.
Jeff's greatest joys were his family, and Philadelphia sports teams, especially the St. Joseph’s Men’s Basketball team, the Phillies and the Eagles.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family Wednesday, November 16th from 6 to 8 pm and again Thursday morning from 8:45 to 9:45 am at the Gaskill-Brown Funeral Home, 33 West Maple Avenue, Merchantville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am, Thursday, November 17th at St. Peter RC Church, 43 West Maple Avenue, Merchantville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead make a donation to stjude.org/donate
