John O’Neill, a longtime Pennsauken resident for over 50 years passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025. He was 95. Born in Camden on September 23, 1929 he was a US Army Veteran serving in the Philippines and later dedicated many years working at the New York Shipyard and later the Naval Warfare Center in Trenton for the US Government.
Beloved husband of over 59 years of the late Doris M. O’0Neill (nee Gorman), he was a loving and caring uncle to many nieces and nephews.
An active and dedicated community member, John had coached semi-pro football teams such as the Runnemede Indians and the Cramer Hill Wildcats. He was also a member of the Cramer Hill Boys Club, Past Master of Cloud Lodge 101 of F&AM, 32nd Degree Member of the Collingswood Scottish Right Consistory, and Haddonfield chapter of the Eastern Star.
John was an avid supporter of the Shriners Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Audubon Society. His days were happily spent caring for his rose garden, the birds, and the love of his life and best friend Doris, known to all as “Lovey.” His last days were spent in Mays Landing with his buddy Chance, the golden retriever who slept outside of his door every night.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Friday, February 14th from 10 am to 11 am at the Gaskill-Brown Funeral Home, 33 West Maple Avenue, Merchantville. Funeral service will follow at 11 am. Interment will be held in Bethel Memorial Park, Pennsauken.
