John P. Thompson

John Pontefract Thompson, of Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, and Brigantine, New Jersey on July 9, 2021 at the age of 68. Devoted husband of over 47 years to Elizabeth Jane Gilbert Thompson; loving father of Mary-Elizabeth Thompson Gaskill (Matthew R.) and Jonathan Gilbert Christian Thompson (Dr. Bridget O.); dear Abba to Meredith Elizabeth Gaskill, James O’Donnell Thompson, Annabel Olive Thompson, and Jonathan Oliver Thompson. Brother of Keith A. Thompson (Margaret). Predeceased by his parents, Ruth Elizabeth Pontefract and George Copeland Thompson and his dearly loved nephew and godson, Keith Allan Thompson II. Godfather to Kelly Ann Mulcahy, Matthew A. Thompson, Marlene Bower, Carolyn Devlin, Chad Horn, Dianna Maurer and Annabel O. Thompson. Uncle to many nieces and nephews; loyal and cherished friend.

A lifelong Episcopalian, he will be remembered for his steadfast faith in God, his love for Christ and His Church, and his undying support and devotion to his adored wife and beloved children & grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Requiem Eucharist Saturday, July 17, 2021, 10:00 AM at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church, 205 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA, 19046. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Holy Nativity Episcopal Church, Rockledge PA, Grace Episcopal Church, Merchantville, NJ or National Brain Tumor Society.
