Kent J. Purves, longtime Pennsauken resident passed away on June 23, 2026, at the age of 86.
Born on April 5, 1940, Kent lived a life marked by devotion to his family, loyalty to his friends, and a warm spirit that made him a pleasure to know. He was the beloved husband of the late Jennylee Purves, (née Hubbs), and a devoted father to his son, Kent Purves. He was also a proud grandfather to Kent J. Purves and Kolin Purves and his wife, Lauren, and a cherished great-grandfather to Peyton. He is also survived by his sister, Linda, and by many nieces and nephews who will remember him with love. Kent was predeceased by his parents, Margaret (Getz) and Clarence F. Purves, as well as his brothers, Richard C. Purves and Garry B. Purves.
Kent graduated from Merchantville High School in 1957, where he was active in athletics and played football, basketball, and baseball. His school years helped shape the competitive spirit and team loyalty that remained with him throughout his life. He carried those qualities into adulthood, where he was known for his steady presence, his friendly nature, and the genuine kindness he showed to others. Following his education, Kent worked at RCA in Camden, New Jersey, and later at R & W Warehouse.
Kent also enjoyed a rich and active life outside of work. In the 1960s, he played end for the semi-pro football team, the Camden Wildcats, a role he remembered with pride. He also played in various softball leagues throughout South Jersey and later became an avid golfer. A longtime member of Wedgwood Country Club in Turnersville, New Jersey, he found great enjoyment in the game and in the friendships that came with it.
As per his wishes, a graveside service will be held 12:00 pm, Thursday, June 25th at Lakeview Memorial Park, 1300 Route 130 North, Cinnaminson, NJ.
