Leah Cannon Obituary

Leah Michelle Cannon, age 21, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital after a long battle with GBM. She was a lifetime resident of Maple Shade.

Leah is survived by her parents, Edward and Karen; a sister, Nicole; a brother, Eddie; her grandparents; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was also part of a large spiritual family of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Leah attended school in the Maple Shade throughout Junior High before transferring to BCIT in Medford to pursue her education in their Veterinary Technology Program. During her time there she learned how to groom and care for various animals, volunteered at the Voorhees Animal Shelter, and fostered many animals in her home. The curriculum in this program was intense, but Leah was always up for good challenge.

Upon graduation, she immediately enrolled at Rowan College to pursue a career in nursing, with a future goal to become a nurse practitioner in the neurological field. When she became ill it was ironic that she ended up in the Neuro-Intensive Care Unit at U-Penn. She remained positive and viewed this as part of her learning experience. She had so much fun quizzing all the nurses on where they went to college and which departments they liked to work in, etc…

Leah wanted to know how they felt being bossed around by the doctors and made it clear that she wanted to treat her own patients and call the shots. The nurse's and doctors at U-Penn fell in love with Leah. Unfortunately, as Leah's illness progressed, she had to drop out of school.

Leah was a skilled artist with a passion for oil painting. She would sip tea and listen to classical music while painting. Her art teacher, Gisela was dear to her heart. Her family is extremely grateful for the time she had with her.

Leah loved her cats Jack, Spencer, and Louie. She loved classic rock & roll. Leah also knew how to "Get the Led Out".

Her love for her God, Jehovah was very deep. Her faith in Him is what carried her through the most difficult time in her life. He truly was her best friend.

Funeral Service will be held 12 pm, Saturday, January 19, 2019 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 440 Martin Avenue, Maple Shade.
