Margaret L. "Large Marge" Goonan, age 61, of Camden, NJ passed away suddenly on November 29, 2020.
Marge was the devoted Mother to her loving sons, Eric, Matthew and Adam. She was the beloved daughter of the late Howard and Margaret Goonan and dear sister of Linda Fisher (Pat), Robert Goonan and the late Howard Goonan, Jr. (Bettylynn). She is also survived by many of her cherished nieces and nephews.
Marge was a proud, lifelong resident of Camden, NJ, where she acquired her impressive life skills from vehicle maintenance to creating a delicious meal on a slim budget. Despite her tenacious spirit, Marge had a heart of gold - always checking in on those in need of emotional support and uplifting them with her contagious laugh and crass humor - all while offering an ear without judgment and some encouraging yet honest advice. Close to her heart was her German Shepherd, "Howie," who she faithfully cared for and brought her great joy. Mostly, Marge was beyond proud of her precious boys - "Frick and Frack" as she referred to them. Though she had not the means to provide a lavish lifestyle for them, she would scrimp and scrape her dollars to provide for their needs and would treat them with an occasional surprise gift. She never ceased to be amazed at their latest stunts and practical jokes that left her in stitches, but not before reprimanding them first. Overall, Marge can best be remembered as a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend who surely made a fervent impact on all of those who were blessed to know her.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family Saturday afternoon from 3 to 5 pm at the Gaskill-Brown Funeral Home, 33 West Maple Avenue, Merchantville. A remembrance service will follow at 5 pm.
