Michael A. Gismonde Sr., lifelong Cherry Hill resident, left us peacefully on September 4, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on December 7, 1953, to the late Pasquale Sr. and Catherine Gismonde, his presence was a gift to all who knew him.
Michael's journey began at Cherry Hill High School West, graduating in the Class of '73. His pursuit of knowledge led him to the Locksmith Institute, where he mastered the intricacies of locks and keys in 1980. This expertise became his life's work, as he founded the esteemed Accu-Lock & Safe Company, thereby ensuring the security and peace of mind for countless individuals and businesses.
Apart from his professional achievements, Michael dedicated much of his life to serving the Cherry Hill community. He was a Special Officer with the Cherry Hill Police Department and committed many years to the Cherry Hill Ambulance Squad. Michael also contributed to the Cherry Hill Public Works Department, Parks and Playgrounds, and provided steadfast service to the Woodland Fire Department OF Cherry Hill. His commitment to public safety was unwavering, often transcending his official roles.
In the realm of associations, Michael thrived as a leader and mentor. He held multiple executive roles with the Greater Philadelphia Locksmith Association and was a charter member of the South Jersey Locksmith Association. His voice and perspective were highly valued on the board of the Institutional Locksmith Association of Philadelphia. Moreover, he supported education as the locksmith for Cherry Hill Schools, conscientiously guarding our future by keeping its institutions safe.
Behind his accolades and community service, Michael was a family man at heart. He took great pride in his home life with his loving wife, Jaqueline Gismonde (nee Fuhs), and adored his son, Michael A. Gismonde Jr. and his wife Jennifer Ward. His world was brightened by the laughter and love of his grandchildren, Brittney Harries (Ben), Kayla Koch (Tyler), Michael Gismonde III (Cameron Elliot) and Aubrey Nash. His cherished great-grandchildren, Evo, and Ori. His brothers, Pasquale Gismonde Jr. and Steven Gismonde Sr., alongside many nieces and nephews, added to the richness of his family tapestry.
Funeral service and interment will be private as per his wishes.
