Regina Anne Terranova O.P., formerly of Merchantville, died on March 14th, 2025, at her home in Mendham, NJ
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 15th, 1941, Regina was a devout Catholic and lay member of the Dominican Order of Preachers. She graduated from Camden Catholic High School in 1959 and attended Misericordia College in Philadelphia where she received a degree in nursing. Later, she returned to school and earned certification as an addiction counselor (CAC) from Rutgers University.
As a young woman, Regina was committed to working in the service of others. She did this as a Registered Nurse at Parkside School and at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, NJ. Later, she worked as an addiction counselor running groups for inpatients at Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia.
She adored poetry and had an uncanny ability to recite long verses from memory that she had not encountered in many years. She loved music and baking and lived a life of inspiring, contemplative faith. She cherished the time she spent, and the relationships she made, attending daily mass as part of the St Peter’s RC Parish community in Merchantville NJ over the last ten years.
Regina approached her days, her tasks, and the people she encountered, prayerfully. By her example, she encouraged others to do the same. She believed that suffering should be offered up to God and found solace and power in The Rosary, The Sacraments, The Divine Office (Liturgy of the Hours) and the teachings and charism of Saint Dominic.
Regina was a devoted mother. She is survived by her sons Leonard A. III, David M. and his wife Christine, and Matthew J. Terranova, the granddaughters that she loved so dearly, Julia Grace and Olivia Nicole and Maryann, the dear sister of her former spouse, Leonard A. Terranova Jr. She will be remembered fondly by her nieces and nephews and the many friends she has made throughout her life.
Per mom’s wishes, there will be no visitation or Vigil Service. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Friday, March 21st, 2025 at St. Peter RC Church, 43 West Maple Avenue, Merchantville. Interment will follow in New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Dominican Monastery of Mary the Queen, 15635 Greenridge Road, Girard, IL (https://opnunsil.org)
