Robert W. Evans, of Merchantville, passed away on October 11, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on February 12, 1942, to the late Charles and Roberta Evans, Robert's life was one marked by dedication, warmth, and an unwavering sense of duty.
He is survived by his loving brothers, Charles Evans and his wife Monica, Albert Evans and his wife Barbara, Jan Evans and his wife Carol, and his caring Sister-in-Law Mary Jane Mallon. He is also survived by his two daughters, Amy and Tricia Evans, and his adored grandchildren, Briana Roche, Nicholas Roche, Courtney Clark, and Erica Clark. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Patricia M. Evans, (nee Hickey) with whom he shared a life full of love and companionship.
A proud US Navy veteran, Robert served his country with honor and distinction. His time in the service instilled in him a deep sense of discipline and camaraderie, traits that he carried into his civilian life. Following his military service, Robert’s career as a truck driver spanned many years, during which he became well-known and respected figure in the transportation industry. His colleagues remember him as a man who could always be counted on, whether for a helping hand or a listening ear.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing from 10 am to 11 am Friday, October 17th at the Gaskill-Brown Funeral Home, 33 West Maple Avenue, Merchantville. Funeral service will follow at 11 am. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
