Ruth J. Norton

Ruth J. Norton, of Cherry Hill went Home to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 8, 2021. She was 91.

Jan was a graduate of Merchantville High School and often shared memories of growing up in the quaint little town.  She continued her education receiving a Bible certificate from Philadelphia College of Bible. She was a faithful student of God’s Word and enjoyed teaching those truths as well.  She also enjoyed all forms of needlework and often gifted family and friends with her projects.  She looked forward to summer vacations in Ocean City.  She was known for providing delicious meals to anyone who might stop in for a visit.  Her recipes are a cherished gift to her children.  She has been a supportive wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother over the last 71 years.  

Jan was the wife of the late William G. Norton Sr.; grandmother of the late Michael W. Stover; she is survived by her four loving children, Rev. Walter “Butch” Norton (Dona), Janice D. Stover (Bill), William G. Norton Jr. (Terri), Teri E. Norton; two caring grandchildren, Matthew L. Stover (Amanda), Meghan J. Stover (Justin); and three cherished great-grandchildren, Liam, Emma, and James who lovingly referred to her as Polly.

Services and interment in Locustwood Cemetery will be private.  One of Jan’s favorite Bible verses was Proverbs 4:23: “Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.”  With this in mind, Jan’s family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Springs of Life Camp Inc., 13138 West Buckshutem Road, Millville, NJ 08332 (www.springsoflifecampnj.org).  For condolences please visit www.gaskillbrown.com
