Samuel Warburton died Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Cadbury of Cherry Hill, where he had resided since 2004. He was 86.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joesph and Lillian Keane Warburton. Sam was a graduate of Benjamin franklin High School. He served in the US Air Force as a Communications Specialist. He later had a long career with the Bell Telephone Company.
Sam was the beloved husband of 30 years to the late M. Isabel Thorpy Warburton. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Enoch, Joseph, Thomas, Richard, and his sister Emma.
Sam is survived by six siblings: Flora Meyers (Ray); Ella Zimmerman; Mary Gerfin (Arthur); Lillian Roemer (Milton); David Warburton (Virginia); and Harry Warburton (Elizabeth). He was a beloved uncle to three generations of many nieces and nephews.
Sam and Isabel enjoyed boating, travelling, and participating in the many activities of a large extended family. He was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Merchantville, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He will be remembered for his positive outlook and wonderful sense of humor. Good people will always be remembered as a blessing.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 10 to11 am on Tuesday, May 10th, at the Gaskill Brown Funeral Home, 33 W. Maple Avenue, Merchantville. Rev. William Gaskill will officiate the service at 11:00am. Interment will be private.
