Susanne R. Chester

Susanne R. Chester, affectionately known as Susie to her friends and family and longtime Pennsauken resident, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on February 6, 1944, to the late Porter and Rhea Howard, Susie was a beacon of kindness and love throughout her life.

Susie's journey through life was marked by her enduring love and devotion to her husband of over 39 years, Bill Chester. Together, they built a life filled with joy and cherished memories. Susie was a beloved mother to her daughter, Linda Folkomer, and her husband John, and a stepmother to Rich Chester and his wife Donna, and Bob Chester and Leanne Kelly; and a loving mother-in-law to Dawn Burfeind. She was the proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Mary Burfeind, Daniel Chester, George Burfeind, Aaron Chester, Eric Chester, RJ Chester, Joe Burfeind, and Owen Daily. Susie also had the joy of being a great-grandmother to Jace Chester. Her love for her family was boundless, and she took every opportunity to spend time with her dear grandchildren and great-grandson.

Susie was the sister to Porter Howard and his wife Vicki, Rob Howard and his wife Debbie, and Audrey (Taylor) Stevens; and step-sister to William Howard and his wife Trish. She was predeceased by her brother David Taylor. Her numerous nieces and nephews will remember her for her warmth and the genuine interest she took in their lives.

Professionally, Susie retired after many years as an Administrative Assistant for Norwood Construction in Pennsauken. Her work ethic and dedication were evident to all who worked alongside her. Susie's commitment to her community was further demonstrated through her active involvement in the Faith Independent Bible Church in Pennsauken where she was a cherished member.

Those who knew Susie would describe her as kind, loving, and faith-filled. Her life was a testament to these virtues, as she consistently put others before herself and approached every situation with a heart full of grace. Susie's interests were simple yet profound: she found her greatest joy in the company of her loving family and in the practice of her faith.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Saturday, July 20th from 9 am to 11 am at Faith Independent Bible Church, 7651 Rogers Avenue, Pennsauken, NJ 08109. Funeral service will follow at 11 am. Interment will be in Bethel Memorial Park, Pennsauken. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the church at the above address.
