Susanne R. Donahue

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Susanne R. Donahue who lost her heroic battle with pancreatic cancer last Monday, February 7, 2022.  Sue was deeply loved by her husband, Greg Donahue, her two sons Greg Jr. and Stephen as well as her daughter, Colleen.  Not only was Sue a dedicated wife and mother; she made friends in every stage of her life.  People just loved her. 

Sue was a nurse and worked in the rehab setting and in Maternal child services helping young, unmarried girls, become mothers.  She was extraordinarily organized and worked in documentation quality assurance for several Home Health Agencies as well.  She also ran a home day care service and was the provider of choice for many of the teachers at our local elementary school.  Most of her kids were reading when they graduated to kindergarten.

Perhaps her greatest accomplishment was her dedication to Christian Education for children.  Miss Sue, as she was known, started and ran a Christian ministry for youth at Friendship Community Church for many years.  She continued this ministry at Clayton Presbyterian Church teaching Sunday school and giving “Lessons for Young Children” during the worship service.  She wrote, produced and directed several Christmas plays that reflected her wit and love for God. She was recently referred to as “a Saint of the Church”.  We take comfort in knowing there is a special role prepared for her in heaven. 

While we will miss her dearly, we are honored to have known and loved her! Godspeed Sue.

A memorial service celebrating the extraordinary life of Sue Donahue will be held on July 30th at The First Presbyterian Church of Clayton, 205 N Delsea Drive, Clayton, NJ. The service will begin at 11:00 am and will be followed by a luncheon.
