Thomas H. Dickinson “Mr. D,” longtime Merchantville and Pennsauken resident passed away Monday, October 16, 2023. He was 86. A US Army Veteran, Tom had previously spent several years serving as a Youth Pastor at the Merchantville First Baptist Church. It was widely known years ago that his door was always open to his children’s friends and anyone near the gas station in town who needed some advice, support, or just a kind hello. That kindness carried through his entire life as all that knew him remembered his caring demeanor and knack for helping others.
He is survived by his devoted daughter, Esther “Beth” Hastings (Steven); three loving grandchildren, Amanda Hastings (Stephan), Steven Hastings Jr. (Marisa), Zachary Dickinson; and a cherished great-granddaughter, Atley Mae.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Tuesday evening, October 24th from 5 to 7 pm at the Gaskill-Brown Funeral Home, 33 West Maple Avenue, Merchantville. Funeral service will follow at 7 pm. Interment in Finn’s Point National Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarrior.org) and/or Boys Town (boystown.org)
