Timothy Jerome Hargrave, 59, of Stratford NJ, passed away unexpectedly on March 19, 2024
Tim was born on January 13, 1965 in Haddonfield, NJ, to Paul and Mildred “Mitzie” Hargrave. The youngest of nine children, he was an energetic and precocious child, always wanting to be a part of the action. He had the misfortune of suffering two strokes before the age of two. Overcoming enormous challenges, he exceeded everyone’s expectations, and went on to live a full and active life. Along the way he endeared himself to friends and neighbors, some of whom became great friends and mentors.
Tim graduated from Camden County vocational school where he developed an array of skills that prepared him for gainful employment. For a period of time, he ran a small landscaping business with a close friend. He also held positions in maintenance and custodial services in a large retail store and later in an assisted living facility.
In October of 2001, Tim married Heidi Chanin and gained a second family and new circle of friends.
Throughout his life, the thing Tim enjoyed the most was being with friends and family. He was a true “People Person” which resulted in the development of strong, supportive friendships. Always the first to show up at family gatherings, and often the last to leave, he loved being a part of the crowd. His happiest times were spent with his wife Heidi on their annual visits to Disneyworld, most recently in late Fall 2023.
Tim gave back to his community by serving as a volunteer for the Multiple Sclerosis Society bikeathon events. He also served as a volunteer for the Winslow Township EMS.
Tim is predeceased by his parents Paul and Mitzie and his sister Milissa Schang. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Heidi, and siblings John (Virginia), David (Nadine), Robert (Susan), Christine, Christopher (Deborah), Kathleen (Dale), and Jennifer (John).
His extended family includes father-in-law Bernard Chanin, brother-in-law Gary, sisters-in-law Eve and Susan, and several loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends. He will also be missed by his long-time friend Steve Bromhead.
A celebration of life will be held in the near future for all who wish to share their memories and good times with Tim.
