Obituary

Wayne Victor Martin of Cherry Hill, NJ died on February 20, 2022 at the age of 79.  Wayne was born in Camden, NJ and was the son of Wayne Willard Martin and Eleanora Jenny Alloway.

Wayne is survived by his children Stacey (Ted), Scott and Amy, grandchildren Cassidy and Cole, brother Billy (Helen), ex-wife Joan, companion Kathleen and cousins Jim (Jeff) and Mary. He is preceded in death by his sister Eleanor.

Wayne served his country as a Marine during the Vietnam war. Upon returning from the war he married and raised a family. He was a skilled electrician and a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 351. Wayne was also a Shiatsu practitioner and beloved yoga instructor who taught classes throughout South Jersey.  He made time to help coach his son’s South Jersey Special Olympics Swim Team (The SPARCS). 

A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on March 19th at the Boathouse at Cooper River.  At 11:00am join a gentle yoga session in Wayne’s memory followed by the the celebration of life reception at 12:15pm.  RSVP is required (swmartin705@gmail.com). In lieu of flowers, please send donations to New Jersey Special Olympics (https://www.sonj.org/).  This will help support the swim team he loved.
