William Generao Jr. Obituary

William B. “Billy” Generao passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021, at the age of 52, surrounded by his loving family. His battle with serious medical issues over the last year and a half showed his perseverance in facing life challenges with true courage. Bill came out a hero and stayed strong until the very end. He was a wonderful husband, devoted father, adored son, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Diane P. (McGrody), proud father of Amanda, Alyssa, and Natalie. He is preceded in death by his precious son, Matthew William. Cherished son of William B. Generao, Sr. and Donna (nee Karp). Beloved son-in-law to Patricia and the (late) Edward McGrody. Dear brother to Tracey, Patti, Kim, Franny, Lisa, Terri and the (late) Joanne. He will be missed by his treasured nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, and spent the last 25 years in New Jersey (Washington Township). Bill was known for his strong work ethic, hands on approach and dedication to his craft. He was owner/operator of his own plumbing company for many years. He was known for his knowledge, professionalism and his easy going way with customers. As a business owner in the community, he was an avid supporter and volunteer of his daughter’s many activities and sponsored the local youth teams. He was a long-time member of Local Union 322.

Bill will be remembered for his devotion to his wife, children, and close-knit family. He was a family man, first and foremost. The strong work ethic he showed in his career transferred over to his home life. He worked hard to build a loving home for Diane and the girls and enjoyed working on home improvements. In his spare time, he was an avid cook, weekend golfer and fitness enthusiast. He especially enjoyed boxing, a passion he shared with his father. He loved traveling with his family and relaxing on the beach. He enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams, the Eagles, and the Phillies. He had a special affinity for action movies and could never pass up a good diner.

His easy-going manner and jokester ways will be missed by all who knew him. He will always be remembered for his strength, and beautiful soul. He was loved by so many and will truly be missed, he left this world far too early. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his daughters.

“I am with you always, even unto the end of the world” Matthew 28:20
